• 12 years of World Music in the city of Loulé

  The Festival MED began in 2004, aiming to create a "different and unique" music festival. Over the years it has extended that cultural promotion and, from the Mediterranean Basin countries, it is opened to the world. "It opened up borders because the music and the culture do not know, cannot know any borders! The World Music concept itself has been increasingly attenuated and the Festival MED has contributed to this wide promotion, "explained Raquel Bulha, the coordinator of radio programs related to the World Music.
  
  In the Festival Med, with a daily average of 7 thousand people, there were 408 bands from 38 countries, with a total of 500 hours of music during these 12 years. The music selection and the focus on the artistic quality are the most important factors and what surprises, year after year, the audience. Some renowned names from the international World Music already performed on the stages of the Festival Med such as Amadou&Mariam, Solomon Burke, Kimmo Pohonen, the Buena Vista Social Club Orchestra or Bajofondo Tango Club.
